Cable-supported footbridges reach long spans with a slender deck. They are sensitive to dynamic behaviour, so vibration and wind response are central to the design.
What the steel scope usually includes
- Deck segments, cross-beams and anchorage plates for cables.
- Pylon or mast sections, where specified.
- Trial assembly and dimensional checks of anchorage geometry.
Cable supply, stressing and dampers are often separate specialist packages and should be defined in the scope.
Final member sizes, details and specifications are determined by the engineer of record for each project. This page describes general practice and does not replace project-specific engineering.
This content is general technical information. It does not replace project-specific structural design, which must be carried out or approved by a qualified engineer under the applicable codes and the requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
