Steel grades and material certificates

Selecting the steel grade, toughness and documentation required by the specification.

Bridge steels are specified by strength, toughness at the design temperature and, where relevant, through-thickness properties or weathering resistance. Material certificates (for example inspection certificates of type 3.1 under EN 10204) provide traceability from the mill to the finished member.

The grades and certificate types required for a project are set by its specification.
