Connections and site splices

Bolted and welded connections, and how splice locations affect fabrication and installation.

Connections determine much of the fabrication effort and the site work. Shop welding gives better control of quality; bolted site splices reduce the need for welding on site.

Points to agree

  • Site welding, if unavoidable, and its inspection.
  • Tolerances and trial assembly requirements.
